Notes
: 1800 is aged (rested) in primarily American Oak barrels with a small amount of French Oak for about 15 days. To true Silver Tequila fans ANY contact with wood is anathema, but this tequila has one of the shorter stays. It is made from 100% Agave- which is unusual for this this price- most of the tequila you find at this price (and certainly below) is NOT 100% agave but blended tequila- the stuff that all those college tequila stories are made of. Other versions are 100 proof Silver, the slightly older 1800 Reposado and their older brother 1800 Anejo , and some older limited editions we have not been able to review as yet

Appearance: Very slight, less than totally clear coloration, leaves even coat on swirling.

First Impression: Not overly aromatic, sea salt, and slightly antiseptic smell.

Taste: Sweetish, agave sap, slightly thick, waxy mouth feel, dry finish.

Drinks: Margaritas of course, and Tequila Sunrises. Sweetish taste is good for people who don't like wood. Distinctive, but not overwhelming in both drinks. Unlike the higher priced Anejo, it stands out against any mixer. As a shot it is probably too smooth to be safe. Especially if last call is aways away.

Cigars: Cigarillos.

Final Thoughts: A drinkable tequila at a cheap price. A bit sweet for my personal taste, but a great one for someone on a budget or who is just starting to explore tequila.

Bottle: Rectangular with shaved off edges and squared off shoulders. Simple pressed glass design of stylized agave at bottom, paper labels. Squarish glass stopper with cork around glass stem (seals tightly) - an important point with tequila- assuming you are keeping the bottle for a while. Moderately heavy glass large square bottom and short silhouette make it a hard to tip over bottle.

Other : Be sure to check out the Ultimate Man Cave Competition: http://www.1800tequila.com/mancave for the possibility of wining $10,000 to at least start outfitting your cave.
