|"Claret is the liquor for boys; port for men; but he who aspires to be a hero must drink brandy."|
Notes: This is a Israeli Brandy - made in the Negev Desert and aged in French oak casks. One of the few brandies to be certified as kosher. Not much else is known about this brand.
Appearance: Attractive red/gold color, leaves thin coat and some legs on swirling. Could be mistaken for a bourbon in color.
First Impression: Dried fruits, apricots, raisins, vanilla, prunes caramel, and almonds. A sweetish vanilla and honey smell with muscat/muscatel and other heavy intense grapes and a melange of spice. Almost like a jam in intensity.
Taste: Sweeter and thicker than most brandies with intense vanilla, honey, cinnamon and allspice flavors, dark fruits, then black pepper and a rather hot finish. Lets you know you are drinking brandy. Almost sweet enough to classify as a liqueur.
Drinks: Not really sure what to do with it frankly. Very intensely flavored.
Bottle: Clear glass, wine bottle shaped with a combination of clear plastic and paper labels
Other: Twice-distilled and aged in small casks.
Final Thoughts: A heavy, fruity and spiced brandy that reminds us of a cross between Asbach Uralt and Navan. While interesting, we are really at a loss as to how to mix it.
