Players Extreme Lemon Vodka
Blavod Extreme Spirits USA, Importer
Grain, Unknown Type (Wheat ?)
PROOF: 70 (35%)
AGE: Not Applicable
PRICE: $ 20-$25 - 750 ML
Notes: This Vodka is produced in England and is distilled five times.
Appearance: Attractive thick body to it, clear, no sediment whatsoever. On swirling, it leaves a thin but tenacious clear coat on the inside of the glass, then suddenly turns into droplets.
First Impression: Lemon on steroids! On deeper inhalation you pick up hints of the alcohol cutting through the citrus.
Taste: Lemon of a heavy, almost waxy type, but more the kind you find in a lemon ice. It is oily and a little tart on the tongue. The alcohol leaves warmth at the middle and back of the tongue. A very slight warming of alcohol as it goes down the throat, the lemon oil clinging to your teeth leaving a persistent lemon oil taste (like you just had a cough drop). It is highly reminiscent of a Italian Lemoncello in flavor but not in body (texture) or appearance.
Drinks: An interesting vodka, but as with any flavored vodka it limits what you can do with it to the realm of specialty drinks.

Cigars: Mixed feelings about it- personally I don't think it is a good mix because all the lemon oil is clingy enough - mix that with cigars and well. . .
Final Thoughts: Subtlety is not something you can accuse Players Extreme Vodkas of possessing. An interesting experiment in flavoring, heavier than most other vodkas by a good margin. With the sea of flavored vodkas I think that they should REALLY think about 50 ml samplers (or sets of them) so people can try their vodkas before committing money to a large bottle of theirs or anyone else as there is such a wide range of expression of a particular flavor.
Bottle: Tall cylindrical frosted bottle like so many other vodkas these days- easily lost in the forest of vodkas at your local store.
