This particular expression uses three different gingers, one for bouquet, and two for taste- one upfront and one with some legs for a longer finish.

Notes: The latest addition to the Fever Tree lineup of premium mixers. Boasts no artificial anything, or GMO Franken-food corn syrup or questionable preservatives. Had a chat with Tim Warrilow of Fever Tree at “Tales of the Cocktail” where he rolled out all the essences they used for their product. A lot of thought, time and energy went into the making of these products and it shows. This particular expression uses three different gingers, one for bouquet, and two for taste- one upfront and one with some legs for a longer finish.

Appearance: Nice fizz / carbonation to it but not overly done. Ginger pulp/sediment/bits are present (in fact turn bottle upside down before opening to mix / suspend them )

First Impression: Bubbles tickle the nose a bit in a pleasant way. Nicely aromatic in a restrained way.

Taste: Exceptionally clean, spicy, aromatic with just a pleasant hint of fire or burn not one of those “Oh, My God!”‘Jalapeno bombs some of their cheaper competitors try to pass off as ginger beer.

Drinks: Like the other Fever Tree products, it works wonderfully for any drink clean, crisp and unobtrusive, it doesn’t step on the other ingredients and lets them shine through. Finish is clean and long with a nice tingle and touch of warmth lasting a long time . Particularly good in a Moscow Mule or a classic cocktail that requires a real ginger beer.

Final Thoughts: Very clean taste, natural. Very nice and considered mix of gingers to make a harmonious whole. Down side, a touch pricey compared to the generic home team stuff, but if you want quality – buy it. If you are using quality spirits it’s a waste to use cheap mixer – particularly in a drink that doesn’t have a lot else in it (no fruit juices, liquors, etc.). You wouldn’t use chlorinated tap water, so why use cloying dulling mixers ? Remember that the mixer is the bulk of your drink so quality really counts

Bottle: Generic clear glass, 200 ml size which is damn nigh perfect one drink size (no waste). Relatively plain but nicely done labels. Print is impossible for anyone over thirty to read.
