And I thought you drank vodka to REMOVE the taste of latex from your mouth afterwards…not before….
Notes: This Vodka is produced in England and is distilled five times. There are at present 17 different other flavors of this vodka. Overall I had been underwhelmed by this vodka company as it has produced questionable flavor concepts with even poorer execution.
Appearance: Attractive thick body to it, clear, no sediment whatsoever. On swirling, it leaves a thin but tenacious clear coat on the inside of the glass, then suddenly turns into droplets.
First Impression: Yes, smells like sweet bubble gum (read latex, bannana, talc). Nail polish notes start to come out after a bit. Tastes like they left a lot of the heads and tails of the distillation in this vodka for flavoring.
Taste: Sickly sweet bubble gum taste. A warming of alcohol as it goes down the throat, and leaves a persistent lingering taste of gum/latex that clings like grim death.
Drinks: If you like the idea of bubble gum dissolved in grain alcohol this one is for you – or maybe you like the idea of something that tastes like latex. Maybe they should come up with a cocktail called “safe sex?” When you finally grow up and develop a taste for real cocktails check out some of our links to cocktail recipe pages.
Cigars: Bubble Gum Cigars – funny, I think they made those candy cigars illegal, something about children and addiction? Hmm….
Final Thoughts: In general I am from the old school which draws a distinction between spirits that I drink and the candy, gum, soda that I consumed as a child, so maybe I am a bit harsh on some of these crossover attempts. But please a vodka that tastes like bubble gum? What were they thinking!?
Bottle: Tall cylindrical frosted bottle like so many other vodkas these days- easily lost in the forest of vodkas at your local store. Light pink color band and clear martini glass shaped window.
