Notes: This is a new series for Heaven Hill ( even though this is the 2nd release – we somehow did not make the list for the first release). This is essentially a new line extension of the Heaven Hill Whiskies  called the Grain to Glass series.
What is the grain to glass series ? Essentially it is a semi experimmental and limited batch series of premium whiskies that use unique varieties and mash bill proportions  to craft a series of unique whiskies.
The 2025 mash bill uses a higher secondary grain proportion than the standard Heaven Hill maxhbill : 52 percent corn , 35 percent wheat, and 13 percent malted barley. The Corn itself is Beck’s 6225 and it along with the wheat are grown on a a family farm in Nelson County near the distillery, Aged white oak barrels with a number 3 char level for over 6 years at the Cix’s Creek rick house site the whiskey is non chill filtered and bottled at barrel proof 106.6 (53.3 % ABV) Also in keeping with Heaven Hills tradition of supporting charities from their special releases ( such as the Parker Herotage collection proceeds going to an ALS foundation) this series donates to the charity Farm Rescue to support family farms.

Appearance: Clear as tears, a oxidized copper gold in the glass reflecting 6 + years in a barrel, on swirling it leaves an oily coat on the glass with a complicated ridgelineand multiple small thin legs forming after a bit.

First Impression: Corn sweetness , touches of vanilla and light spiciness with oak sap/char accenting and backstopping the melange nicely.

Taste: The vanilla and panda flavors come over nicely with dry dark fruit/sugar notes floral high notes with old leather, wine like Ethiopian coffee notes. Finish I slightly sweet with nut like  overtones and the taste of old sandle leather ( in a good way) notes of sandalwood , amber and sweet and slightly toasty ending. finish is lingering, media, length with a caramel, vanilla  and grain fade.

Drinks: Works well in all the classics cocktails that call for a bourbon. It is well structured with a high enough prof to form an excellent backbone to any mixer you care to throw at it.

Bottle: We were not sent a production belle so sadly we cannot comment on the aesthetics of it, just the contents of the smaller sample bottle we received.

Other: Pric is $99.99 for a 700 ML bottle which is more expensive than the bottled in bond, but less than many of the other specialty or highly allocated bottles ( such as the Old Fitzgerald series at $150 +. Well worth the money these days

Final Thoughts: An excellent and interesting whiskey that is a de[arture from the usual; Heaven Hill expressions without being overly different and a modest price for s specialty bottling.
