Have you bourbon and eat it too !
Notes: A small bakery company located in Cornwall Bridge Connecticut and founded in 1979, Matthews 1812 House is family owned and operated.Specializing in baked goods with a sprinkling of sauces and chocolates in their portfolio, a fair number of their products having some spirits infused or baked in. They have an extensive catalog of offerings some of which are sugar free ( please see webpage link below).
They just added some Kentucky bourbon products such as their Bourbon Blondie Bar, Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, and this their Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. I am tempted to put commas in that last bit as it lists all the ingredients, but I won’t.the torte is relatively large with a 7 inch diameter and weigh in at 20 0z ( 1 lb 4 oz or 566 grams)
Appearance: Nicely done and attractive to look at either in the box itself or better yet in front of you on a plate.
First Impression: Well made, scents of bourbon, pecan and chocolate waft up nicely and overall it has a deep, sensual smell to it
Taste: A delicious well balanced blend of pecans, chocolate and bourbon, with other baking spices in th background. Nicely moist, good texture and mouthfeel.
Drinks: Great with anything we paired it with, postprandial coffee, eggnog, whiskey or milk.
Packaging : Comes in a white folding hinged box with a transparent window sealed in a clear plastic weapon a paper holder similar to a cupcake holder but heavier, with protective shredded paper holding and centering the torte.Box it came in was well packaged and padded
Other: Attractive, delicious and seductive.
Final Thoughts: Absolutely beats the hell out of Harry and Davids and many other mail order food gift catalogs with far superior products.
