This vodka produced in ridiculously small quantities .
Notes: This is a new vodka produced in ridiculously small quantities – and I mean that in a nice way – I’ve seen bigger stills in the woods than this one. Produced by Six Mile Creek by triple distillation of a finished Seyval Blanc wine in a copper pot still in small batches. They also produce an excellent Grappa, Gin, and Limoncella all of which are distilled from a wine base which makes them all excellent choices for people seeking wheat free alternative spirits.
Appearance: Crystal clear, no sediment whatsoever. On swirling, it leaves a thin clear coat on the inside of the glass with long thin legs and droplets forming. Wonderful bright appearance.
First Impression: Smells very much like a muted Seyval Blanc rounded citrus and grape smells with a trace of buttery sweetness to it. No trace of off notes or the smell of rubbing alcohol that many vodkas suffer from. A carefully done distillation.
Taste: Plump, silken wine like body slide past the tongue and a wonderful warm finish. Slightly oily and wonderfully thick body from the vodkas wine origins – this is the kind of body that cheaper vodkas strive for by doping with sugar, glycerin, or vanilla but this vodka comes by it honestly. Unlike a number of other vodkas this one is not highly filtered so you have a great body and mouthfeel that would otherwise be lost and a host of great flavors.
Drinks: Already very clean to start with, chilling it down makes it even more smooth. Great at room temperature, amazing cold. Martini was excellent (with olive or twist). All the other drinks were greatly enhanced in smoothness and body by this vodka along with the wine like notes. This vodka would be an excellent vodka for any number of drinks, it’s flavor, smoothness and subtlety are unmatched by its competition.
NOTE: Use Noilly Prat and keep the vermouth refrigerated after opening for the best taste.
Final Thoughts: One of the few vodkas made from grapes of any type – never mind Seyval Blanc. Incredibly smooth and rich- blows the other grape based vodkas away hands down.
Bottle: Brilliantly clear glass, tall rectangular with rounded edges and heavy decanter type base bright silkscreened label makes them easy to find on a shelf.
