Blend of Bajan rum aged in oak barrels. Cheap but good, great mixing rum

Notes: Distilled in Barbados in the Caribbean and using water from the limestone aquifer and filtered through coral stone. Blend of Bajan rum aged in oak barrels. Younger sibling of the Cockspur 12 year old .

Appearance: Winter wheat red/gold,Sparkling copper gold color, clear with no hazing separation or floating sediments. Long legs and crenellated edges develop on swirling.

First Impression: Slightly sweetish, caramelized molasses, spice and flowers, nutty.

Taste: Spicy, sweetish, some muted flower notes, medium-bodied. Nutty, spicy, hint of ginger, nice dryness and warmth to it. Not as complex or deep as the 12 year old.

Drinks: Works well in most rum drinks. Assertive enough for a classic rum cocktail – cheap enough to use in a umbrella drink.Good enough to use, cheap enough not to worry about it.

Cigars: Any decent cigar will do – like a La Gloria Cubana or Hoyo de Monterrey.

Bottle/Packaging: Short antique type bell shaped clear glass bottle with shield shaped paper label with red lettering and drawing of Rooster (in red).Black neck foil, faux cork closure keeps the rum safe in any position.Nice minimalist package. Clear glass shows off the color of the rum nicely

Final Thoughts: A good choice for a around the house/working rum. Decent quality, cheap, mixes well. Subvert the dominant rum paradigms and buy this one.
