This wine starts off as a pear eau de vie which is aged in oak for one year to mellow before blending with fresh juice then laid down for a year to blend before release.
Notes: This wine was produced by Huber winery in Borden Indiana. They also produce number of other wines and a few brandies. This is another one of the infusion series that are a specialty at Huber’s. This one start off as a pear eau de vie which is aged in oak for one year to mellow before blending with fresh juice then laid down for a year to blend before release.
A truly unique pear wine.
Appearance: Pleasing gold color, no sediment whatsoever. On swirling it leaves a thin clear coat on the inside of the glass.
First Impression: Heavy bouquet of pears, subtle oakiness comes through also.
Taste: Sweet and heavy on the tongue, with a plump, round taste to it. Aslight warming of alcohol as it goes down the throat and the oily/thick tail of pear juice at the end, but counterbalanced by oak notes.
Drinks: Like the others, it makes a wonderful ingredient for a variation of the classic Kir Royale (Champagne with Cassis),but will not of course have the effect on color that the Blueberry or Raspberry will have but does not interfere with the champagne the way a liqueur can.
Final Thoughts: Quite a bit different from those fruit flavored white wines you see in such abundance. And unlike the others, this shows a careful approach to a unique wine.
Bottle: Tall 375 ML bottle dark blue bottle with attractive silk screened graphics and text. The weighted heavy bottom lends a touch of elegance to the bottle and gives it a eau de vie bottle appearance. Sealed with a fair amount of sealing wax to prevent air from spoiling the contents.
