An imported Italian organic wheat vodka that totally cooks the goose !
Notes: Made from organic wheat grown in Italy and using Italian Alps water this is a newcomer to the vodka market . Part of a portfolio of products including a couple of interesting RTD’s ( ready to drink ) Punzoné Originale (Punzoné organic vodka with organic Sangiovese grape sangria and natural blood orange essence ) which started off as a family cocktail punch , and Punzoné Lemoncino (Punzoné organic vodka with organic Chardonnay grapes from Abruzzo and a natural Sicilian Lemon essence). This vodka is one of the few certified as organic by the European Union (a very hard certification to get) and the United States Department of Agriculture.
Appearance: Clear, bright, leaves a thin coat on the glass with legs then droplets forming.
First Impression: Nicely creamy wheat smell, slightly peppery and rose scents to it.
Taste: Nicely smooth with a slightly viscous mouthfeel ( as opposed to thin and cutting), creamy, nicely grainy with slightly aromatic and minty notes
Drinks: Works nicely in all the usual vodka drinks. I recommend it in a Vesper, it add nice weight and body and you can think of the Italian Riviera while you drink it.
Bottle: Tall cylindrical bottle with frosted surface except for a clear area in the shape of Italy through which you can see an Italian Alpine town.Bottle is topped with a paper ribbon seal with the word imported and the Italian national colors.Closure is a composite cork with a silver-colored top to it and a clear plastic neck capsule.Overall an elegant package but dangerously close to a Grey Goose bottle in some respects. It does risk being lost in the sea of frosted vodka bottles in most displays.
Other: The only organic Italian vodka that we know of and a very well made one to boot !
Final Thoughts: Tastes better, organic, and less money than Avian Fashion Victim Vodka – need we say more?
Well laid out, easy to navigate, interesting cocktail recipes.
